Each year L’Arche Manchester and the other 10 Communities in the UK do a sponsored walk to raise money to support L’Arche communities across the world. L’Arche International supports vulnerable and marginalised people with learning disabilities in some of the most economically and politically challenging countries across the world, where there is often no state funding at all.
Some L’Arche Communities raise significant contributions towards their running costs but still have to rely on fundraised income from events such as these. Money raised will help provide a home, food, practical help such as physiotherapy and vital medications, as well as emotional, social care and day activities. These are all things we take for granted here in the UK and yet know how valuable they are to the people in our communities.
