115th Anniversary – Clayton Methodist Church

Sadly we will be unable to hold our planned celebration on 10th May for the 115th Anniversary of Clayton Methodist church.

Here is some history about the church. The cost of the building in 1905 was just less than £1900 (though the tender amount was £1492). Under the foundation stone was placed a bottle containing a copy of the connexional magazine for November 1904, a copy of the circuit plan, a circular of the day`s proceedings, and a Manchester newspaper!

There has been 150 years of continuous Methodist worship in Clayton, starting at Ashton New Road Methodist Church. In 1963 our friends from that church came together with North Road Methodist Church to become Clayton Methodist Church as we know it today.

We would ask you to pray with us on May 10th, as we journey on with our Lord.

Lord, we thank You for Your constant love and blessing on 115 years of worship and witness at Clayton Methodist Church, and 150 years in the Clayton area.

We thank You for the people of vision who built the church as a place of prayer, praise and witness.

We pray that we will continue to be people of vision, remaining faithful to You and Your mission as we continue to serve You and the people of Clayton in the years to come.

In Jesus’ name we pray.

Amen

Elva Towler
