Everlasting God, as the years go by, as the world seems to be changing rapidly everyday with no certainty of what tomorrow will bring, we remember that we can hold fast to your unchanging nature, your continuous love and everlasting promises. In an ever changing world, we look to you, our rock and firm foundation.
As the end of an academic year finishes, we lift up to you Jesus, all those who will face change next month going into new classes, schools or even moving off to university for the first time or new jobs. We ask that in the change that is to come, you comfort those who are worried about what September will bring, help those who feel alone to find friends, and strength to cope with the new challenges they will face.
We remember that change isn’t always a bad thing and that even you call us to change things in our lives and the world that are damaging. We think of the impact that we have made to the climate change we are seeing around the world and remember of our need to change our own habits to counter it. Your word calls us to love our neighbour and our enemy, speak with love, compassion and grace to others, seek those who need help rather than looking to our own needs first and all this requires a change in us. Help us Holy Spirit we pray.
The world we live in has changed and so we pray Lord that we also have the wisdom to know what needs to change in our faith, beliefs and actions and what things we need to continue to hold onto.
Speak to us and guide us in your everlasting and never changing love.
Amen
