So many hands reach out for you,
the Christ, the broken bread.
Cupped hands expectant for the gift of your very self;
open hands receiving the gift of eternal life;
needy hands bringing problems and cares;
hands clasping other hands in a blessing of peace,
a mutuality of love before receiving the bread.
Hands reach out for you, waiting to bid you welcome;
hands reach out in interdependent need.
Lord, come to our hands as the bread of life,
a welcome feast,
nourishing us that we may be
the hands of friendship in your name
for those who need your love.
