50 Year Anniversary Service @ Crumpsall Methodist Church

On Sunday 25th January 2026 Crumpsall Methodist Church celebrated their 50th anniversary with a special service to mark the occasion.

Several former members of the church attended including Jeff Walker, the church’s former Sunday Club leader, Pam and Sheila, daughters of previous treasurers, Joan and Harold Milgate, Margaret, daughter of  Winifred Taylor, who once served as Communion steward, and Caroline, daughter of former Guide leader, Rosa Slater. They were delighted to see their friends from the church and all the photos and memorabilia that people had brought with them.

Guests of honour, were Circuit Superintendent Rev. Dr. Jo Cox-Darling and Carl Austin-Behan, Deputy Lieutenant of Greater Manchester. Carl said he is proud of his Crumpsall heritage and spoke of his fond memories of the church remembering it as a place where he could find a place for quiet reflection as well as spending enjoyable times with friends.

Jennifer Forster shared a letter she had sent to the King and Queen inviting them to the celebrations. Rob Fullen church treasurer then shared their reply saying that although they were sorry they couldn’t join us, they were delighted to hear about the variety of activities that took place at church and especially about all the church are doing towards becoming an Eco-church.

Special thanks go to Sue Herbert who made the wonderful cake. Church members were impressed at how accurately she created the model of the church on the top, even including the bins!
