10 December Malachi 3:1-4
The phone pings.
He’s coming! (At last.) Put the kettle on!
We must make him welcome.
Ping!
Oh wait, it’s not just yet ….
“When will he get here?”
“I’m not sure, this text just says he’s on his way, seems a bit vague. It’s from his PA, actually. This message seems to be about ‘getting ready’. ”
Get ready? There’s so much to do!
Just look at the state of this place.
Can we let him see us like this?
(He’s known for being particular.)
We’ll have to tidy up.
At least we have some time.
Another ping!
It’s just a reminder.
‘Make sure you’re ready, not long now’.
Everything will be fine when he does get here. Won’t it? Provided we’re ready.
I’m not ready. I have to be ready.
Ping!
Will the PA come first, so that we can demonstrate our readiness?
That does not sound good. What is expected?
What exactly does ‘being ready’ entail?
Ping!

Lord, it’s easy to get distracted at this time. In all the excitement and stress of preparation, we pray that we don’t lose focus on what’s really important. Amen.
