Windrush Day Celebration

Whalley Range Methodist Church celebrated Windrush Day in style. We started in church, singing songs and hearing stories of journey and arrival and finding God. Worship was followed by a sumptuous Caribbean lunch (the ackee and saltfish was my favourite). Members told stories of their travels and arrival in rainy, smoky Manchester, and the great kindness of strangers. Finally, the Jamaica Folk Ensemble brought traditional songs to round off our celebration.
