Thy Kingdom Come 2021

Manchester Methodists invite you to a prayer journey

Action:

Prepare a space. Find a candle. Paper and pens. Create a love heart, flames every day and a dove at the end.

Be ready for Thursday and the beginning of the journey. Think of 5 people to pray for this week.

Thy Kingdom Come is a global prayer movement that began in 2016 which invites Christians around the world to pray for more people to come to know Jesus. During the 11 days of Thy Kingdom Come, it is hoped that everyone who takes part will grow in their relationship with Jesus, pray for 5 people to come to faith in Jesus and pray for the Holy Spirit to empower us in bearing witness.

After the very first Ascension Day the disciples gathered and constantly devoted themselves to prayer while they waited for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. Like them, our reliance on the gift of the Holy Spirit is total – on our own we can do nothing.

Through the centuries Christians have gathered at that time to pray for the coming of the Holy Spirit. ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ picks up this tradition.

Manchester Methodists are inviting you to join us in our prayer journey, as part of Thy Kingdom Come, the global prayer movement that invites Christians all over the world to pray for more people to come to know Jesus.

Every day between Ascension Day on Thursday 13th May and Sunday 23rd May (Pentecost), we will post information from the daily journal, adding to it a song to listen to as we begin our creative activity alongside it.

To prepare for the journey that begins on Ascension Day, Thursday 13th May you are invited to do the following to take a large sheet of paper and cut out a love heart.

You can write ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ 2021 on it or leave blank.

Thy Kingdom Come invites us to pray for 5 friends regularly.

The 5 people you have thought of – perhaps you can write their names on the back of your heart as a reminder.

We look forward to you joining Manchester Methodists during this time of reflection. Please look out for posts on our website and across social media. We would love to see your photos of your journey.
