This or the collect for the day (see appendix)

Lord of all life and power,
who through the mighty resurrection of your Son
overcame the old order of sin and death
to make all things new in him:
grant that we, being dead to sin
and alive to you in Jesus Christ,
may reign with him in glory;
to whom with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit
be praise and honour, glory and might,
now and in all eternity. Amen.

Reading from Acts of the Apostles.

Psalm of the day.

Concluding with:

Glory to the Father, and to the Son

and to the Holy Spirit:

as it was in the beginning, is now

and shall be for ever. Amen.

Gospel reading

Canticle

Christ our passover has been sacrificed for us,
so let us celebrate the feast,
Not with the old leaven of corruption and wickedness,
but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

Christ once raised from the dead dies no more;
death has no more dominion over him.
In dying, he died to sin once for all;
in living, he lives to God.

See yourselves, therefore, as dead to sin
and alive to God in Jesus Christ our Lord.
Christ has been raised from the dead;
the first fruits of those who sleep.

For since by one man came death,
by another has come also the resurrection of the dead,
For as in Adam all die,
even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son

and to the Holy Spirit:

as it was in the beginning, is now

and shall be for ever. Amen.

Time for reflection

Prayers

Prayer of thanksgiving

Pause and consider what you want to give thanks for.

Loving God we give you thanks for the joy of the Easter season.

That when it seemed that there was no hope, that all was lost,

you showed the power of love through the mystery of the resurrection.

We give you thanks, that Jesus raised from the dead made himself know to:

  • Mary, the first apostle, in the quiet of a garden.
  • the 11 in the upper room
  • Thomas who wanted to see for himself and declared his faith
  • disciples in the breaking of bread
  • those who had fished all night without success until a stranger told them were to cast their nest,
  • Peter, who found his way back through simple complex love
  •

We give you thanks that you continue to make yourself know in Christ and that you pour out your Spirit upon us.

Especially we give you thanks for….

Loving God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, we give you thanks and praise. Amen.

Prayers of intercession

Think about the people and situations that you want to bring before God, the difficult decisions fears and worries that you need to share and seek guidance for. Your desire to listen for how God wants you to act.

Silence

Father, enliven your Church for its mission

that we may be salt of the earth and light to the world

God of truth, inspire with your wisdom those whose decisions affect the lives of others

that all may act with integrity and courage

God of hope, comfort and restore all who suffer in body, mind or spirit.

May they know the power of your saving love

We remember wit thanksgiving both those who have confessed the faith

and those whose faith is know to you alone.

Father, into your hands we commend them.

We ask these things through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

The Lord’s Prayer

HYMN

In life, in death, in life beyond death

Jesus Christ is Lord.

Over powers and principalities, over all who determine, control,

govern or finance the affairs of humankind

Jesus Christ is Lord.

Of the poor, of the broken, of the sinned against and sinner

Jesus Christ is Lord.

Above the Church, beyond our most excellent theologies

and in the quiet corners of our hearts,

Jesus Christ is Lord.

(from Iona community)
